Last year was an exciting year in film! I had a great time with the majority of movies I saw. So I decided this week to share a few of my favourites and a few I haven't yet seen, but am eager to view.
Firstly, the films I am keen to see:
The Irishman, Ford vs. Ferrari, Little women. All three of these movies have been getting rave reviews and are all in contention for multiple awards. I will have to put aside a fair chunk of time for The Irishman, but I believe it will pay off!
The Main Attractions:
Avengers: Endgame.
OMFGHS! (Oh my fucking god holy shit). This movie is without a doubt in my top 5 of all time. Pulled off with unbelievable fan service and wrapping up 22 previous story lines. Comic books may not be your thing and you may be sick of Marvel, but what this movie was able to accomplish, in the quickest 3-hours I've experienced, is astonishing. Must see for all!
Marriage Story
While Endgame is an emotional rollercoaster for completely different reasons, Marriage Story will have you clinging to your wife/husband and telling them you never want to let them go. Powerful performances by all cast members, wonderful direction, and great cinematography. Word of warning, don't watch this movie if you're having a sad day... It's not uplifting!
Joker
Another film with powerful acting, directing, and cinematography! Bringing to life the story of one of my personal favourite villains, The Joker. If you're in the mood for a popcorn flick, this is not it! However, if you're in the mood to see a brilliant actor channel the mind of DC Comics most notorious bad guy, this is the film for you!
Jojo Rabbit
If someone came up to you and said you could have a good laugh watching a film about Nazis, you would probably think they are a lunatic. Well, I am a lunatic, but it is also true! Hilarious child actors and a very intriguing plot brings this story to life. Additionally, Taika Waititi plays Hitler... enough said!
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
One of Taratino's best! Being inside that man's mind must be very odd but he translates it to page and screen tremendously. Great acting from all involved and the final act is by far the best part of the movie. Definitely saved the best for last!
So there are my top picks for last year! A good way to unwind to start the year, or to make yourselves feel better about your lives. I have hopefully covered all bases for you!
Ok, love you, bye!
