If you’re anything like me, you love a recipe that’s simple, fun, and looks like you’ve put in way more effort than you actually did. Enter: Christmas Crack. It's crunchy, chocolatey, sweet, salty, and ridiculously easy to throw together—because who has time for complicated during the holidays?
What You’ll Need:
• Salada crackers (or any plain crackers—whatever’s in the pantry works!)
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1/2 cup butter (I swap this for Nuttelex to keep it friendly anyone lactose intolerant)
• 1 block of Cadbury chocolate (milk, dark, or whatever you’ve got)
• Green and red M&M’s (the more festive, the better)
• Melted white chocolate
• Desiccated coconut
• Crushed pretzels (for that salty crunch we love)
How It’s Done:
1. Set the Scene
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a tray with baking paper. Lay out the crackers in a single layer, like little soldiers ready to be transformed.
2. Whip Up the Toffee
Melt the butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Keep stirring until it turns into a smooth, caramel-y sauce. Pour it over the crackers.
3. Bake It, Baby
Pop the tray in the oven for about 5 minutes, just enough for the toffee to bubble and lock in all that sugary goodness. Let it cool for a hot minute (but not too long—you still need it warm for the next step).
4. Chocolate Time
Break up the Cadbury chocolate and scatter it over the toffee crackers. Let the heat do its thing. Once melted, spread it out with a spatula—bonus points if you taste-test as you go.
5. Get Festive
Now for the fun part: top with M&M’s, a sprinkle of desiccated coconut, and a handful of crushed pretzels. Drizzle with melted white chocolate for the final ooh-aah effect.
6. Cool & Crunch
Let it all set (pop it in the freezer if you’re impatient like me), then break it into pieces. Boom—Christmas magic.
A Few Notes:
• Want to level it up? Add crushed candy canes for a peppermint twist or swap the pretzels for nuts.
• These keep in an airtight container for up to a week… but let’s be real, they’ll be gone by tomorrow.
The best part? This recipe is so forgiving. No fancy techniques, no stress—just festive vibes. Perfect for gifting, parties, or a midnight snack when you’re wrapping presents.
